187 ELM STREET APARTMENT
The apartment. The apartment consists of two rooms: a kitchen/dining/living room and a smaller bedroom, plus a bathroom. It is connected to a larger house (185 Elm Street), but has its own entrance. It is on the second floor, so there is a flight of stairs going up to it. The apartment has a beautiful view of trees and meadow. The neighborhood is residential and quiet. There is space to park one car, outdoors.
Location. The apartment is in Norwich, Vermont, and is about 2 miles from the Dartmouth campus, which is in Hanover, New Hampshire. Of course, getting to Dartmouth by car is easy. It is also a short bicycle ride in good weather. In addition, there is public transportation Mondays through Fridays through Advance Transit (brown route – schedule here). The nearest bus stop is near the corner of Main Street and Elm Street in Norwich, which is about 0.75 miles from the house.
Utilities. We ask you to pay separately for electricity, internet (if you want it) and heat. (Water is included.) Electricity usually costs $50 or less per month. Internet service is also about $50/month. The cost of heat varies depending on the weather and the amount of heat that you use, but it can be up to $200/mo during the coldest winter months (and little or nothing during warmer months). There is no air conditioning, but people usually find that it is not needed.
Services. There is a food store in Norwich, about 0.75 miles from the house. Norwich also has a post office, bank, bookstore, and some other businesses. Many more businesses, including stores and restaurants, are in Hanover.
