As an additional housing option this year, Dartmouth's Real Estate Office has secured a lease of One South Main Street – strategically located at the corner of Main and Wheelock Streets, directly across from the Hanover Inn. This historic and unique 7,100 ft2 residence was built in 1830 and has been meticulously maintained over the years. It has 12 spacious and basically furnished bedrooms (full sized platform bed, armoire, desk and chair), on three floors, with three shared bathrooms, and outstanding common spaces including a large kitchen and eating area. Bedrooms range in size from 129 sq. ft. to 285 sq. ft. Five of the bedrooms have full-sized bunk beds, and thus may be shared by two students. (Anyone seeking to live with another student must identify their roommate on their housing application- we will not assign random roommates in double rooms). All inclusive monthly rent ranges from $1200-$1500. A security deposit equal to one month's rent is required. Rent will be billed monthly to student's account.
The common spaces include an attractive sitting room, a large and well-appointed living room, a front outdoor sitting porch, an institutional quality basement kitchen and eating area /lounge area, a laundry room with washers and dryers, and basement storage. There is no on-site parking available.
There will be an on-site House Manager. The House Manager will be responsible for setting up a rotating schedule to ensure that household chores are fairly distributed among all house members. In addition, the House Manager will help coordinate occasional social gatherings on the Premises. These responsibilities will come with a 25% credit towards rent.
